Dan and Kristy’s wedding
Wow, what a time. We stayed an extra hour and everyone partied. Dan and Kristy told me a lot about themselves and that made for a fun, memorable scripted introduction. I’ll attach a copy for you to read. This is not an easy thing to do, your writing skills have to be sharp in order to create a document like this.

“Hold The Date” cards
I’ve just signed up as an independent distributor for a company that dovetails nicely with my wedding entertainment business, it’s called Send Out Cards. With Send Out Cards, I can send unexpected cards to family and friends and boy have I!! What I really love about this system is I create custom cards on my computer and they get mailed, not emailed to my family and friends. I never have to go to the store, and the cost? Well, let’s just say that I’m quite pleased.
Follow this link to see for yourself and have a look around. You can view all the cards that are available under the heading “services” and then choose “card catalog”. Choose Weddings and have a look. You can even create custom cards! I’ll even pay for you to send a couple of cards. I promise not to bother you about this amazing system. If you see the benefit of being in touch with family, friends, business associates, or anyone else for that matter, then that’s great. Have fun with it.

ps. What other types of cards will you need for your wedding?
Pete and Ali’s wedding
What a great night. Camden Yacht Club, two locations to cover, inside the building where the dancing took place and outside in a tent where the dinner was served. How did I cover this?
I use a Bose L1 system. Each Bose L1 has a unique speaker design along with 2 bass cabinets. I took one outside and set it up, and kept the other inside. Each is capable of creating enough sound to cover 150 people easily. I used a unique UHF transmitter inside to send the music to the UHF receiver mounted on the Bose outside. I also set up an additional wireless mic for announcements in the tent.
It all went off without a hitch. We stayed late and danced the whole night. People celebrated with Pete and Ali and it was magical. Wedding receptions are organic. You have to let them happen and when they unfold like this, the memories will be amazing.
Have a great day!
When $1 is worth .25 cents?
Would you spend $1 to buy something worth .25 cents? NO. But you may be doing just that when you hire a wedding entertainer. How? Glad you asked.
There are two types of mobile dj’s, single operators and multi-operators. The single operator is the single owner/performer of the business. The Multi-operator is structured differently. They have an owner and sub-contracted disc jockeys. Here is where your dollar comes in.
If you hire a multi-operator for your wedding and agree to the fee of $1,000, he then sub-contracts your wedding to a dj and pays him $250. How do I know this? I’ve seen it. So, what happens to the other $750? It’s used to pay for advertising to attract other brides, pays for business expenses and the owners salary.
When you contract with a single operator, you are getting full value for your dollar.
Is this surprising to you?
Have a great day.

How much do you charge?
This is the most difficult question to answer because it’s the wrong question to ask a DJ. If you are asking because you want to get a deal, then good for you, you’ll most likely get exactly what you pay for.
Doesn’t it stand to reason that it’s the wrong question? You wouldn’t ask your Doctor how much he would charge for surgery. I know, your Doctor is a college educated professional and would never let you down. OK, then what about your mechanic? If you ask for the price quote for a brake job, and you don’t like the price, you can take it to another mechanic. So, how is that different than a DJ? The mechanic knows the routine, take off the wheel, remove the caliper, take out the pads, check the disc to determine if it needs to be turned, then reverse the order and collect the cash. Well, isn’t that the same thing for a DJ? No.
I mean, yes and no. There are DJ’s that have learned just enough and can pull your wedding “off”, by that I mean you’ll get a brake job and no more. The bare bones, button pushing, hesitant on the microphone, mistaken names, inappropriate comments DJ is not what you want. Am I starting to make any sense? Your wedding day is not a visit to the fast food drive-through. It’s not a McWedding. It’s a ONCE IN A LIFETIME opportunity. It’s family and friends having an amazing time! Why? Because you didn’t shop around for the LOWEST price. Are you really ready to take that risk?
Start a discussion with me and convince me that the lowest price is the best way to go.
Thanks,
Dave

McDonald’s is an amazing corporation that has mastered the production and delivery of a menu. They are the leaders. But, the “Battle Of The Burger” has less to do with the menu that it does with a pleasant dining experience.
Different Companies. Which one should I choose?
Great question, because all companies are not created equal. As a matter of fact, some dj companies aren’t really companies at all, they are just a dream. So, how do you choose? Carefully.
Three things will determine if you are actually dealing with someone who has set up a legitimate business:
1.) Registered with a local municipality.
2.) Has a business relationship with a financial institution.
3.) Fully Insured.
Why are these things important? If they are actually registered with the state, they have declared their intentions of running a business. They are accountable.
What’s the big deal about a banking relationship? Businesses cannot allow funds to be deposited to a personal account. If you deserve a refund, where do you want that to come from, a personal account or a business account?
Insured? You better believe it. If something should happen at your reception and your DJ doesn’t have insurance, you face a difficult time. Let’s say a speaker falls and hits someone. Speakers generally weigh above 40 lbs and sit on a tripod raised at least 5 feet above the floor. When it falls, it hits with great force. If the DJ has insurance, they can pay the claim. If they don’t, you could be on the hook.
These are just a few things you should think about. Demand the answers you need.
If I can help you, please contact me.
Best,
Dave
I Love Island Weddings….
Here is why: The backdrops are stunning visually. The locations are wonderful, and the venues are very happy to help make your day memorable.
Diamond Cove is a wonderful venue on Great Diamond Island. Make sure you take a look.
Jones Landing on Peaks Island and the Peaks Island Inn both have commanding views of the harbor and you can “rent” a Casco Bay Lines Ferry to bring your guests to the island and then plan on taking a regular ferry back when you are through.
Vinalhaven Island is a real gem, but it’s a bit of a trip to get to.
Many DJ’s will not travel to the islands because it takes a good deal of planning. I have done the planning and would be happy to help you make an island wedding a reality.
Best,
Dave Winsor

Wedding Entertainers
Welcome to your wedding planning. How is it going? I imagine that it is easy to choose a:
1.) Date
2.) Church
3.) Venue
4.) Menu
5.) Centerpieces
6.) Invitations
7.) Tuxedo
8.) Gown
9.) Gifts
10.) Flowers
11.) NOW….what have you got left to purchase? Entertainment. Music. A DJ.
How to make the correct choice? It’s difficult because all the other items to purchase on the list are tangible “things”. You can see the Tuxedo and Gown. The building is evident, the food can be sampled. The entertainment cannot.
So, how do you choose? Simple. Call around. Schedule appointments and meet these people face to face. They will be representing you in front of your friends and families. Kind of frightening? You bet, and now is not the time to buy cheap!
What should you look for? I can answer that in person, or during a phone call, because I don’t want the people who do this as a sideline or hobby to get an advantage by reading the answer. Let’s just say it will be apparent to anyone.
Let me know how I may help!
Best,
Dave
