What happens when….
The guests arrive 30 minutes early, and dinner will be 30 minutes later than scheduled? That exact situation happened this past weekend. The cocktail hour was supposed to start at 2:30, but guest showed up at 2:00. Bride and Groom were taking pictures with the idea they would be introduced at the regular time of 3:30.
Well, 3:00 rolls around and the pictures were done. I pushed to introduce them into the room at 3:15 with the idea that first dance, toasts and blessing would take us to 3:30 and dinner would be served. EXCEPT…the room captain said that first course would be ready at 3:45. Here is where a professional DJ/Entertainer/Coordinator will come in handy. We did the introductions and first dance, and then I mentioned to the Bride and Groom that they could fill some time by visiting tables until the first course was ready. EXCEPT…the room captain informed me that dinner wouldn’t be available until 4:00pm. Now we have 20 minutes to fill. Of course, now everyone has been in the room, drinking for about 2 hours. About 3:50 I had every sit down and we started the toast(s) and blessing. That brought us to 4:00 and the rest went smoothly.
